Once Upon A Winter is a Post-Rock/Post-Metal band from Thessaloniki, Greece. It began as the solo project of Ilias Kakanis, who self-released the debut album Selective Depression in Chase of the Big Bang in 2017.

The 2018 follow-up, .existence, marked a turning point: the band signed with Finnish label Snow Wave Records and assembled its live lineup, currently consisting of:

Since then, Once Upon A Winter has headlined shows across Greece, completed a first European tour with dates in Germany, Switzerland, and Italy, and shared the stage with God Is An Astronaut, Deafheaven, and Alcest.
